AppearanceThe SorrowDespite being only in his thirties, Shinjiro's hair is already grey. His glasses are not meant to strengthen his eyesight but rather to lessen the visibility of his mutated Sharingan as he doesn't wish to scare people just by looking at them.
Shinjiro's clothes consist of a black hooded rain coat and dark green camouflage pants along with black combat boots.

For all eternity they crave for the light they have been robbed off. Their story is our past and future. As long as we live in this cursed world the Sorrow will not end.
HistoryA Sorrowful ChildShinjiro was born to the Uchiha clan as the son of an Uchiha woman and a Suna ambassador, many years before the massacre. His father returned to his country before he was born, leaving his mother behind to care for him alone, shunned for carrying a bastard child. Things only got worse since from the day of Shinjiro's birth his eyes were anbormal. At first no one paid attention to the strange focussed glow they seemed to possess, but as Shinjiro became older his behaviour started to differ from normal children. Shinjiro became very withdrawn and seemed to talk to himself. His mother would have been glad if it had been that.
As it turned out due to a genetic defect Shinjiro's eyes had mutated. Instead of the clan's usual Sharingan his eyes had gained the ability to see the spirits of the dead. His parents tried their best to keep this information from the clan's attention, but it was futile. Shinjiro became even more shunned by his own clan, which affected his social development even further. By the time he completed the academy as the top student in the theoretical exams at the age of 12 he had become acomplete social outcast.
Cursed YouthAfter graduating from the Shinobi Academy Shinjiro's name to a turn for the better - or the worse depending on one's personal opinion. Word had reached the Hokage of Shinjiro's unusual gift which prompted him to place the young Uchiha among the ANBU trainees in hope to get a closer look at this strange ability.
Though he lacked the strength to be considered an ANBU level ninja, Shinjiro proved to be a valuable asset in missions. While he preferred to not socialize with his fellow ANBU members due to the large number of ghosts following them around, he started to develop his powers further due to the increased exposure to the spiritual. Soon enough Shinjiro learned to channel the spirits of the fallen to gather information or use their knowledge in combat. But since his body was still that of a child he was often not strong enough to bring forth the full potential of the shinobi he channeled.
But the increase in power also had it's downside.
The more attuned Shinjiro got to the spirits, the more empathetic he became to their feelings. The grief of the departed he felt was what finally gave him his codename at the age of 15:
The Sorrow.
Tragic LifeWhat happened afterwards is not known to anyone but The Sorrow. For reasons unknown he left his old life behind and travelled to the distant lands of Suna, his father's homeland, shortly before Itachi murdered his estranged clan. Some say the spirits told Shinjiro things he was not supposed to know and he had to flee. Others say he had broken because of the grief he felt. And a last persistent rumour seems to link Shinjiro to the annihalation of the Uchiha Clan... and the death of his own mother. Yet no one knows his true reason.
The Sorrow took up residence in Suna and joined the ANBU again. Most people don't even know of his existence, and he prefers it to be this way. For he doesn't need attention to realize his plans...
A while ago he attempted to gain the Kekkei Genkai of the Kaguya Clan through forbidden body modification. While he did indeed gain the indestructible Kaguya bones, his body was disfigured through this. He now hides his face behind a metal mask, his glowing eyes the only thing visible through it...
Fighting StyleThe Sorrow is a master of Bō-Jutsu, his technique in this art even rivalling the level of the legendary Third Hokage. However, ever since he decided to forego his weapon for a Naginata, it has changed... just as the rest of his style. After gaining offensive power through the Kaguya bones he abandonned his defensive fighting style. For the better or the worse remains yet to be seen.
WeaponsShinjiro's weapon of choice was a 6 feet long quarterstaff. It was cut from a chakra-sensitive tree and reinforced through seals to make it nigh unbreakable, but that was it's only special ability. Nowadays Shinjiro has exchanged his staff for a Naginata of the same quality.

Shikotsumyaku:Teshi Sendan [Ten-Finger Drilling Bullets]: Hardened bones from the fingertips are shot at the enemy, with a spinning motion added to the skeletal bullets. A direct hit will excavate skin, flesh, and bone. Since the bones of the user can be regenerated, the rate of fire from the user's arsenal is limitless.
Tsubaki no Mai [Dance of the Camellia]: Shinjiro performs this technique by modifying the humerus (upper arm bone) of either his right or left arm to create a short, hilt-less bone sword. Since he can increase and compress the density of his bones, he can make the sword harder than steel. He then uses the sword to fight; his style uses quick cuts and thrusts to disable opponents quickly.
Tessenka no Mai: Tsuru [Dance of the Clematis: Vine]: Using his Kekkei Genkai, Shinjiro can modify and pull out his own spinal column to use as a flexible chain staff, regrowing a new spine to replace the removed one. The protrusions on the vertebrae are modified to make them stronger and sharper. He would follow up with Dance of the Clematis: Flower to pierce the immobilised opponent.
Tessenka no Mai: Hana [Dance of the Clematis: Flower]: This is a follow-up to the Dance of the Clematis: Vine. Shinjiro's entire forearm is encased in a giant drill made of bone to attack the trapped victim. The bone is strengthened (through compression and its plaited spiral shape) to become the hardest type of bone the body can produce. The bone resembles a flower, hence the name.
Karamatsu no Mai [Dance of the Larch ]: Shinjiro uses this technique to create a mass of razor-sharp bone spikes all over his body. These spines appear to be branches off his pre-existing skeletal structure rather than completely new bones. Kimimaro is even able to grow these bones at an extremely rapid rate so they can stab an opponent even as they are growing. He can even use them to block or trap an opponent's strikes. In addition to being an unwelcome surprise for opponents, it makes him basically untouchable at close range. If an opponent would start to get close to him, he would start to spin rapidly slashing the foe in multiple areas of their body.
Sawarabi no Mai [Dance of the Seedling Fern]: Shinjiro's final dance; this technique causes a giant forest of bone spikes to burst from the ground. Shinjiro is able to emerge from any bone at will, giving him a deadly element of surprise should the opponent be able to avoid the attack.
Yanagi no Mai [Dance of the Willow]: To perform this dance, Shinjiro grows several long bone blades from his body for use as weapons. Though he primarily uses two blades grown from the palms of his hands, he also uses several secondary bones grown from his elbows, knees, and shoulders. This dance form is incredibly acrobatic, using spins, charges, and long sweeping slashes to make the strikes more effective and to evade opponents' counter strikes. Shinjiro can also extend his bones to attack his opponents without having to adjust his own movement.
Spirit Arts:Sanzu no Kawa [River of Styx]: This technqiue summons the spirits of the departed to stun enemies in a large area.
Yuurei Bunshin [Spirit Bunshin]: By combining his own chakra with the spirits around him, Shinjiro can create pseudo-Kage Bunshin. They are not corporeal but can fool even Doujutsu as they possess a chakra network.
Fukushuushin [Desire for Revenge]: Can only be used in combination with a major Genjutsu. Shinjiro summons spirits and incorporates them into the illusion. When they touch the opponent their life is slowly drained. As they are not very fast a person's psyche decides how effective this is.
Special AbilitiesMutated Sharingan: Due to a birth defect his eyes never developed the Sharingan like they normally would have. They are 'active' all the time and lack the ability to copy techniques or see things in slow motion. In exchange they are immune to Genjutsu and allow him to see and interact with the spirits of the departed.
Recently the Mangekyo abilities awakened within his eyes, slowly corrupting his mind...
